On May 20th, members of the Sacramento Section visited the ruins of a home that would have been the dream house of then-best selling author Jack London.

In 1911, London started building his 26 room, 15,000 sf dream house. He and his family were almost ready to move in by 1913, and it burned down.

For many years, arson was suspected but in 1995,  a forensic team of investigators concluded that the likely cause was the spontaneous combustion of linseed oil soaked rags left behind by workmen.

A massive traffic backup in the wine country did not dissuade the members of the Sacramento Section who reached their destination an hour or so late.

I'd like to thank organizer Kris Summitt for this event.
