For Sacramento Section's February First Sunday Drive, we took some back roads off Historic Hwy 49 to Bridgeport, which is the site of one of the country’s longest covered bridge. At least that is the claim that I heard, although I have my doubts not knowing what New England has to offer.
It was built in 1862 to allow teamsters, stage coach drivers et al to avoid several days of extra mountainous travel by crossing the South Fork of the Yuba River.
The car assortment was our usual eclectic First Sunday Drive assortment – everything from a ’75 300D – to a couple of W113 Pagodas, a W108 and 2 AMG-GTs.
I have told people over the years that MB-USA should shoot a commercial involving some of our drives to see generations of Stuttgart’s finest.
Co-ordinating this herd is like trying to gather cats – I asked people to raise their hands to get a count for lunch and got 25.
Over 40 showed up to the Wild Eye Pub in Grass Valley to a grateful owner.
