Angel's Camp
California

For our December First Sunday Drive, about 20 members of the Sacramento Section drove from Sacramento to Angel's Camp, CA. Angel's Camp is one of dozens of California Gold Rush towns along the western slop of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. It was made popular because one afternoon, some bored miners decided to have a "jumping frong" contest, and Mark Twain just happened to be there to immortalize it.

In fact, if you drive along historic state highway 49, you can see the little cabin where Mark Twain called home for a short time.

We weren't the only car club interested in a drive that day - we saw what must have been 20 Corvettes and a dozen Minis sharing the road with us.

I'd like to thank Melinda Lincoln for organizinkg this event.
